Here's whats been done to date with my electronic conversion:. Distributor set at #1, timming set to 0 BTD, distributor set up correctly internally, coil voltage and run voltage (12.9V) confirmed plug wires/plugs are good, coil is alive and well, ECU grounded, sufficient fuel delivery, wiring correct.
Despite all the above, I cannot get this beast to fire displaying a annoying habbit of spitting fuel and fuel vapor out the carb (accelator pump is functioning). On tap for later today is a fuel pressure test and recheck of all work that has been done to date.

Ok gang what am I missing?

Dave

your doing the EI right? well heres what happened to me and maybe it will help a little.

when dusteridiot helped me install mine, we had a similar problem were the car would crank and have no spark. turns out a brown wire (on my 72 valiant) had a short going from the ballast to the coil, when we put a test light on the wire to test it, before cranking it would light right up. but when we tested it while it was cranking there was a very dim light. once we replaced that wire it fired up. but there can be all sorts of electrical gremlins through the electrical system that can come up. so good luck, hopefully someone else can put in an idea or two.

You have voltage at the coil.

Double check the distributer's indexing. You may be off a tooth or two.

Have you checked if the pickup in the distributor is good?

I devoted 5 hrs last night to indexing the distributor one tooth at a time, to no avail, the distributor, ECU, ballast resistor were purchased from my local dealer probably 15 or so years ago and have never seen any use. Could someone enlighten me on on the procedures for verifing pickup condition? I have voltage at the coil and plugs, no problem there.

I'd be surprised if the float and needle are the culprits, the car was running reasonbably well last week that is until my pertronix conversion bit the dust. It will fire at the plugs. BTW i'm running a Carter Single barrel free of emission controls, couple years old and except for replacing the float needle and adjusting the float level within the last couple months it is otherwise untouched.

I did detect flooding. neverless, i'll crack it open and verify all is well. This Dart has a history of unexplained fuel pump failures that have baffeled me since day one, logic dictates I eliminate the fuel system from the no start equation.

Pull distributor out, put ohmmeter leads in each dizzy lead... spin the shaft slowly... as each tooth passes you should see a drop in resistance... something like 150 ohms at a tooth and about 450+ at a valley... if you don't see anything check your connection and or replace pick up.
