PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2003 11:00 am
Need input about the fesibility of installing 3-point retractable belts to a 63 Dart GT. My idea is to secure to inside panel behind door frame area with thru bolts, no center piller to roof on this one so do not want to secure to roof as nothing to provide sufficient strength. If any anyone has attempted this, would be intrested in how the instalation was accomplished. Have noticed similar systems in Mustangs and BMW so think could be made to work with the stock bucket seats. ANY IDEAS? :?:

I have anchored to the roof on the early A-Body hardtops but the headliner was out and I welded-in the needed hardware.

That aside, many of the newer convertibles have the restraints isolated with the seats so I would go looking for one of those belt systems.

Car Model:
Sebring vert. I have been looking for an inexpensive set for some time now. If you find a pair or two grab the other set for me! The previous gen ram Club Cab had them in the seatbacks too.

Good luck! 8)

Will do, are mustang parts acceptable? as these seem to be common in  socal. Interesting idea for 1st gen ram seats-wonder if all had center counsel? If,so could you remove it to get the width to no more then 22in? Now you've given me one more option to investigate.. Will let you know how it turns out as I know a pretty good seat rebuilder.

There is one important thing to keep in mind if you go with late model seats and integrated belts. Sebring seats have a seat control module located under the center console and you need this and the harness for the seats to work. This module must be wired into your car properly and the modules differ from year to year, so you will need the hookup info from the Sebring to figure out how to wire them.

I don't know if other models have a similar system, but I would think so.

I have '97 Sebring seats in my '64 Valiant convertible and love 'em.
