Im not sure of the gearing,my mechanic did the swap for me & I forgot to ask prior. I prefer to use pump gas & leave it as close to streetable as possible since it will be going to first time drivers. I have a ways to go so who knows I could change my mind by the time the snow melts :) . Thanks for the help & enjoy the winter

Do these guys regrind lifters too? I know you can regrind a VW solid lifter, but Mopar? Or is it recommended/mandatory as in a V8?

Yes, Oregon can regrind lifters. You must use new or properly reground lifters on and new or reground cam.

Great thread,maybe someone can offer some suggestions !!Here are the parts accumulated so far !! I do also have an 8.75 that I want to run a 3.91 LSD with too !!I have had MP 528/280 cam that the dist drive gear to a dump on, then I went with their 460/268 design that I enjoyed at the track and on the street !! I was looking at the 528 area again, I just don't know where to go for one !! Open to suggestions !!

6pck your right where im at just with the nicer rods and pistons...

i like my Erson .475/246 dur @ .050 cam... falls off at about 6K... since you have a strong bottom end maybe a little more duration for the bigger lift numbers...

Yeah, I just need to find one !! I have an option of buying 2 New Stock cams,but I've never dealt with having them Reground !! Don't know if that's a good thing or not !!

I had the opportunity to stop by and drop a core and 2 sets of old lifters off for them to take care of. Got to talk shop a bit with them as they are kind of confused as to why no two cam requests are the same... :lol:

They did make a request:
They are out of mechanical cam cores that have good fuel pump lobes on them. If you need one with a good lobe, you'll need to send them a good core. Since I'm asking them to groove the rear journal for better oil to the top, they do have some new hydraulic blanks with this feature and will swap your mech core for a new core if this is requested.

For the next build I've decided on a 549 grind-248 @050, .539 lift with .26 lash...ground for 109 LSA.

Not really, but I bought a cam and lifter set, along with 1 pushrod, for 172 including shipping.

Oh, yes, and including core charge.

Since my motor is propane dedicated I took one with a bad fuel pump lobe. Eventually, they'll get a cam back with a good fuel pump lobe, but I doubt they'll be able to do much with it, since I think it's improperly re-ground already. For a while, someone was selling NOS cams on ebay and they were going for less than 50 bucks... No lifters, just a cam. I think the last one I saw went for 36 and shipping...
