How true, how true. Well, I've already spent too much on the Mopar Performance springs, so hopefully I can make up the cost with these more affordable retainers and a little elbow grease on my part. Thanks again!

So Chuck going to port self or have it done? I am to $#!+ scared that I will ruin the the head - and they are getting rare over here

A crowd over here quoted me ~$300 they have done slant heads before, and will install hardened seats for me - remember we never have had unleaded in the production lifetime of the slant

Yes and no. Yes, I'm going to try porting myself. No, I'm not going to regrind the valve seats or plane the head. That's the machine shop. I'll be doing most of my own grinding though. I'm pretty handy with a Dremel, so I'm guessing a die-grinder can't be much different. Heads are still a relatively easy commodity around here and I believe I have a volunteer who will give me a core head to work on. I'm going to take it slow and be very, very careful, though.

beware it is possible to cut too deep when cutting for hardened seats as well. i had that happen when a less-reputable builder tried to make a set off his shelf fit.

Im going to do my own porting also and have a very reliable older gentleman who runs his shop the same pace he walks, slow & steady. He has the oversize seats but arent they only needed for the intake?
