slant six which would be 225 engine,(only guessing) and stock torqueflight, which would be 904; small drums and wheels define it?

No, wheels and drums don't define it. Could have been a 225 or a 170 slant-6 engine from the factory, with different axle ratio in each case. What are the first six characters of the car's VIN?

With 225/auto the standard-equipment axle ratio in '67 was 2.93.

thanks Dan..that is about what I had figured by counting turns; question arises as it (67 dart convert) recently easily made 100 MPH up a steep hill outside of Boston(route 2 W, aka 'mile hill" ) , and that really surprised me (my 300CDT Mercedes is dead at 70 on same hill, 97 JEEP 4.0 about 90) . This with that "bad curve" DC ignition .

I am thinking about trying to do OD behind slant in next car , but just keeping 904 and using 3;1 is infinitely cheaper and easier, and OD may only gain 2 MPG anyway, never pay it back in $ .

Running 3;70 or 4.1 with OD may provide acceleration performance gains, but stock slant is no 12 second car, if kept calm enough to drive. what difference if you go from 16 to 15 sec quarter?

So, if it can crack 100 uphil, and cruise all day , happy at 85 with 3;1 (2:93) who needs OD...

One way to look at it..
