Bet you weren't expecting that ;) I guess these swathers came equipped only with the /6 originally. This one runs on propane. Can a Super Six be far off? How about Dutra Duals?

Uh…wow, you're right, I wasn't expecting that!

Didn't realise you're in Casa Grande. Been there a few times.

When I was a kid, we had a Owatona Swather with a slant and LP.
I guess that was my first slant

I have seen several full blown combines sell on eBay that were slant six powered.

I'll get a photo of the other side of the engine shortly. It's kind of interesting...

The S/6 offered compact width, great durability, and fuel economy,so it was installed in many industrial applications in the 60s-80s.Forklifts,street sweepers, marine, brush chippers, airport trams, farm harvesters are examples I've seen.

Do you understand how consistent a 2 minute ET would be messing with you at the finish line?

It would be consistent... after all, it does have a governor.

And comfy- I see the unmistakable profile of a York A/C compressor... driven from the FLYWHEEL?!?!?

the LPG plumbing is weird... why doesnt the outlet of the lockoff go right into the vaporiser, where is it going?

and where is the hydrostatic relief valve?

interesting that they used an expensive and clunky belt-driven governor when they could have just stuck a HOOF governor under the mixer...

looks like a late-model engine, is it hydro? it will probably have exhaust valve rotators on it, that and LPG means it should be pretty tight...

Yeah, unfortunately that York compressor isn't hooked up to anything - may make a good onboard air setup for my 4x4...

Keep in mind these were gas from the factory so that LP system is farmer-fab add-on. The governor is stock for the gas engine. I will most likely convert it back to gas as I have no way to fuel it with LP where I am. Plus, I have a complete super six setup doing nothing, and Dual Dutra Duals, and an Offy valve cover... someone stop me!

Seriously, the engine is governed to 2250 RPM per the manual, and is rated at 65 HP at that speed which seems realistic. Any engine work would have to be directed toward improving low end torque. The works can't turn any faster than that.

It could stand more HP - that's why he sold it to me - he got a diesel swather.

yeah around here there's all sorts of swathers and combines and such that have slants in them, I haven't seen many that run on propane though, I was seriously thinking about that for my car but but the propane carb on my pickup with a 360 instead...
