I called Enginetech to order pistons, they said I'd have to get them from one of their dealers, fair enough. I called my local dealer to order the Enginetech pistons +60 and moly rings. The guy said they use Silv-O-Lites and told me they are as good as Enginetechs and he had them in stock. Soooo I got the Silv-O-Lites and moly rings. Did I make a mistake and should I insist on the Enginetech slugs?

Thanks, C-Dog

I've used Silv-O-lites in both street and street/strip applications and never had a problem.

silvolite supplies to most major manufacturerers. in fact they made the 9.0 cast pistons that mp used to list in the catalog. i wouldn't worry about quality in the least.
btw, just who is this "enginetech" that you speak of?

James,

Enginetech is the source of the pistons in Slantsickness article. I've also seen them recommended on the board. Just thought I'd go with what has been mentioned here. From talking with them they are a hugh supplier to engine rebuilders. Although I have a Motorcycle parts buisness, the hassle I would have to go through to get one set of pistons from them wasn't worth the trouble so I went to one of their dealers. Looks like the Silv o lites will be fine from the post I've gotten back. Cars are a bunch differnt than bikes, thats for sure, less expensive to build go figure 1/10 the size 10 times the money

i know what you mean about bikes! i built my '72 yamaha 650 twin a few years back. i think the rings were like 95 bucks, i priced a diaphragm for one of the carbs at around 150! i never could find a master link for the timing chain on that thing. know of a source? i had to modify one that didn't quite fit and it has worried me ever since, so i never really ride it.
