I believe that in 64 and earlier all there are are fusible links which are easily transformed into a fuse box. All you have to do is get a schematic and replace all of the fusibles with solid copper, same gauge wire. then lead them into a fuse box. Which could be out of just about anything with a box. The schematics should have the power ratings of the links and just get blades or if you prefer, the old fashion type tube fuses.

You will probably find in-line fuses for things like the radio and blower motor.

I would install a new fuse box for anything you add. You can get them at most auto parts stores and they use the new style blade fuses.

If you replace fusible links with fuses, have a good supply of fuses handy, because links act like slo-blo fuses and can handle load surges better.

Thank you very much for the info.Do I connect the fuse box to the run side of the ignition switch or do I run a heavy wire from the battery with a heavy duty cut off switch. Thanks again for the help.

You will probably want both sources at a new fuse box and your ignition switch is probably a good place to tap into them. Stereos will probably need both switched and constant voltages, as well as power through the light switch. Your existing lighting circuits should have in-line fuses somewhere in the wire bundle or maybe on the switch itself.

I don't have any wiring diagrams from the older cars, so I can't tell you exactly where the wiring goes.

Thanks for the help. This is the oldest Mopar that i have ever owned and while I know my way around late 60 to early 70's Mopars real well this old Valiant is throwing a few curves at me.

I rewired my 1950 Chevy pickup using a Dodge minivan fuse box. As others posted, just match the wire gauges and determine the correct fuse amperage to use. I also used the relays for high draw items like the blower motor and so on. It works great that way. Having an accurate schematic helps. Remember that you will have to do some rework by taking the old circuit positive end and plugging that to its fuse. BTW thanks to those who recommended the wiring harness for my Duster. I just received it and it is fantastic.
