I am collecting parts, to build a street rod, based on an early 1900's French, racing, Renault. The ones with the radiator behind the engine. Since I am a sheet metal fabricator, the body will be all aluminium, and about the size of a 1932 Ford coupe. This will be a fun car, not an economical daily driver, or a rip snorting racer.
The engine will be a rebuilt, 1967 225 c.i. slant six, mechanical cam engine, with some head work, Holly 390 4 barrel carb. on a Clifford Hyper Pack, inlet manifold, and headers, electronic igntion, with a five speed manual gearbox, and a 3.31 ratio Jaguar rear end.
What make/grind camshaft would you recomend for this vehicle?
Keith from Australia

I would use a real mild cam like the Mopar 244 or the Comp Cams 252 or 260.

All these cams will give a smooth idle, good throttle responce and MPG.
There are other good grinds by Isky and Reed cams but try to keep the duration under .260 (advertized)

I guess if it were mine, I'd go bigger. At least the Isky 264 cam (see their website www.iskycams.com). You won't lose much in mileage/idle, but it'll pull a lot higher RPMs. The Slant can handle a lot of duration and still have a decent idle if you set up the ignition curve correctly.
