Hey all,

I was at Ceejs this weekend, and I decided to see if the bolt pattern on my Volvo was close/same to that of the SBP MoPar wheels. If I understand this correctly, you measure between two studs that are across from each other like the tightening sequence. You measure right in the middle of the top of the studs.

If this is true, Then my Volvo has a 5x4" pattern. The studs "look" very similar to that of the SBP rims, which is what motivated me to get the dial caliper out and measure.

Was my measurement correct?

I guess if it is, then the only real difference is going to be backspacing. Also, you can put a much wider tire on the Volvo rims than you can with the SBP factory steelies.

I may just bust out the floor jack and tire iron to see if it works! Volvo wheels are much easier to find in junkyards, and if they fit properly, it would be a great alternative to the limited resources of wheels that we have (At least around here).

Your Volvo wheels are more than likly a metric dimension...close, but will not work with 5 on 4 inch pattern. Comes out to 101.6 mm according to emsvitil's chart.

The volvo 200 series has a bc of 108mm, or 4.25"-ish

Btw, the amazon/120 and so on, not sure about the 160 used a 114.3bc, or 4.5", IIrc??

The 240 was the first metric car Volvo built; pre-240 Volvos were built and specced in inches. However, as an owner of a pre-240 Volvo myself, I am pretty confident Volvo never used a 5-on-4" bolt circle.

And no, if you encounter 5-on-100mm, that is not close enough to 5-on-4" to be a safe interchange.

no.

you measure the diameter of the circle that the bolts create. measuring two opposing studs centre-to-centre only works on bolt circles with an even number of studs.

Ok, that makes alot more sense. So in reality, the bolt pattern would be larger on the Volvo than that of the SBP wheel. Learn something new everyday! I guess I would have found that out after trying to make them fit, and failing, but this is much easier.

Oh well, it was a nice idea...

RWD Chevy passenger car wheels are 5 on 4.75" with 7/16" studs until you get into the big cars which are 5x5" and 1/2" studs. There were 4-lug Novas and Corvairs though.
