The throttle plate/base has a broken off idle mixture screw. I pulled 4-5 different BBD mixture screws and couldn't find a match!!

I pulled a base off another carb and have a lot of time invested in cleaning and flattening the mating surfaces on my stationary belt sander. I noticed the throttle blades have holes drilled in them, (318 carb) the other blades don't have hole. Is that a problem?

I don't want to swap blaeds as the screws are a PITA to work with. I would rather leave well enough alone.

Will I need to plug the holes? This is going on a stock '74 225.

I say yes, others say no. People have had fine results using the 318 "holey" BBD throttle plates on slant six, but I choose to believe that Chrysler used a different part for a reason.

One thing I can tell you is that a friend of mine has run a Slant BBD and a 318 BBD on his car on a dyno with the AFR meter hooked up. The 318 carb was lean.

Well, it should pass through the motor. I was going to use the JB to hold some brass or aluminum screws.

I did check the jet wells for leakage. I used WD40. One leaked! I think a little JB or some Aero gasoline resistant sealer should fix that. Iam theorizing the gasket without any "ackenpookey" would be fine.

Leaky jet wells? Just like it's big brother the Thermoquad
