I went to the yard to pick up the coil/HEI module/bracket combo, and I could not find one.I searched lots of trucks and camaros etc... couldnt find one. What models/years am I looking for? Today made me realize I know almost nothing about chevys. Most ignitions were missing, and on the ones that had them, none of them looked like the bracket in Dans HEI sticky.Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry to say I can't help you locate a bracket, but I didn't even bother looking for one. I just cleaned up a spot on my fender (just got the dirt and grime off so it'd be smooth), put some Arctic Silver I had left over from my computer building days on the back of the HEI module and bolted the module directly to the fender. Isn't the cleanest looking solution, but it works flawlessly and the module never even gets hot to the touch. The fender is getting replaced anyway so I'm not even worried about the extra holes I put in it. I'll have a more permanent mounting solution hopefully this summer.

The black wires were a ghetto-fix ground loop just to last me until I have all my electrical stuff finalized.

Thanks! I really want the bracket though.I like the cleaner more factory look of it,and I like the idea of the smaller HEI coil. Dan Josh, where did you guys get your bracket?

My coil and bracket came from the left cylinder head of an LT1 Caprice that was probably and ex police car. The LT1 has the distributor behind the water pump so the coil is at the front of the head. The 4-pin module came from inside an HEI distributor in a mid '70s Chevy pickup.

That's fine, but the module isn't what you want unless you are going to use MegaSquirt or something similar for timing control. I paid $2 for the same thing without the module, but I had to pull the filthy thing myself.

sometimes it better to pay a little more and not have to run around.

I thought you could use this module for the swap? It shows that Dan reccomends this since it has the water tight connections. What do you think?

I'm not sure the late 4-pin module is what we want. I was under the distinct impression that the late 4-pin module was triggered by the engine ECM and was not equipped with the circuitry for handling the variable reluctance input provided by our distributors. I'll have to look into this a bit.

I got one.Coil/coil bracket bracket, and heat sink for 26 bux :D I decided to skip the module he wanted 45 for that. I figured I can get a new 4 pin for less than that. All I am missing is the water tight connector for the coil.Any ideas? Is this part still availible new?

I love the self-serve yards in situations like this. I just cut the connector off the car.

I got the connector. Now I have more questions. Where do the wires go??? It has the coil like Dan shows in his HEI post, with three wires comming out of the connector. Also what did everyone do about the coil to dist cable? My coil outlet looks like the one is Dans post, and different than yours Josh I know its a male type, but it looks so much smaller than the one Josh has.HELP
