Im interseted in purchasing the clifford headers they have on their website. I was wondering how long it would, or could take. I know some people wait on backorder for months..

A better bet for the same or less money would be contacting Doug Dutra and getting a Dutra Dual exhaust manifold. Better fit, much better quality, and will last you much longer than a header.

Ditto what Reed said.If I'd known then what I know now I'd be running Dougs manifolds.I've got clifford shortys on my rig and I'm ok with them, took like 3 weeks and no hassles but then I'm lucky compared to some of the horror stories I've heard.

Yep, get Dutra Duals. Compared to Clifford, you'll wind up with a better product, better driveability and economy, you'll actually get the parts you order, and you will be supporting a longtime key member of the slant-6 community in his ongoing efforts to bring special parts to market.

The dutras are a nice manifold, there is no question about that. Unless they have come down in price, you'd be able to buy a set of Clifford headers, have them sent out and ceramic coated for the same or less then the pair of Dutra's. The Cliffords will out perform them and look better too.
If you do choose to buy from Clifford, use a "real" credit card and let them know you will back charge it if they don't show up on time. Don't forget to really let them know about back charging the order.
I bought a set from them with no problems this way.

Beggin' your pardon, but have you gotten any data yet to support this claim since the last time you made it? Or is it still a guess/opinion based on a guess/opinion? Let's keep in mind the unfortunate fact that just about nothing in your buildup worked out as well as you thought it would. You've made it clear you're unhappy with its lack of performance and economy. Ever since first fireup, you've been asking lots of questions about how to fix stuff we tried (without success, because you wouldn't listen) to warn you about before and during your build. It's certainly anyone's right to buy and build whatever he wants — including yours — but given the hard reality of your difficulties, I think it's a bit of a stretch for you to be giving advice on which parts will "out perform" which other parts, to people who might not be familiar with the ongoing troubles with your build.

I think most people just have their own opinions. The dutras may be easier to install, but no matter what, some people will go with headers because thats what they've always used. I know thats true for me and my brother. He likes doing things his way, because he knows how to accomodate around his way of installing/fixing/etc on a car. Im sure alot of people think its just easier to go to a website and, 2 clicks your done, which isnt neccasarily good or bad for the S6 community, just doesnt really sponsor DD who works hard to get aftermarket S6 parts to market

Just thought I would whip this around from another thread as it seems to be relevant to this one:
Quote:
On another Mopar site, here is an excerpt from a post from a guy who just got brand new headers from Clifford

"hey guys. i called up cliffordperformance this morning to tell them that my flange is warped. they told me to take it to a machine shop. i wanted to make sure i called them so that if i did have it machined and it didnt work, i can still return them. so i took them to the machine shop. the guy there said they are pretty f'd up but he will see what he can do. he is worried of taking too much off and cutting where the tubes are welded to the flange. why cant anything just be an easy bolt on procedure. ugh! and why does it seem like no one takes enough pride in their product to make sure they dont send out crap. thats all for now"

By far the best performance improvement I have made was moving from the Dutra/split manifold. I gained a whole 1 sec. in the quarter and was able to run 87 octane instead of 93. I truly feel that if I had installed the headers from the start I would have cut my problems in half. Ohh I did listen and kept the manifolds on. I sure seems to me that that was to wrong idea. I did it my way AND I did it your way. So far my way has been better.
P.S. Eileen has been stroked and bore to 258 cu so your results may vary.

Uh, yeah, okeh. Still(!) waiting for you to get back to us with a factually-based, coherent explanation (no guessing or making stuff up) for this miraculous decrease in octane requirement you say you saw by replacing the Dutra Duals with headers.

I've never seen one article in any publication over the years where manifolds were better than headers.....even the new cars pick up a little over the high tech factory manifold with headers.

Dyno or track...headers increase performance.

Mm. Any of those articles have anything to do with Dutra Duals vs. headers on a slant-6 used as the original poster in this thread intends to use his? (No, I didn't think so…)

An engine is an air pump....slant 6 or not...headers will help. Nothing against the DD.

Why did all the max wedge guys remove all the fancy factory manifolds and the hemi guys too? Those manifolds are more like a true header. In design they appear better than the DD with individual runners and a contoured collector.
