Giddyup KillerBees....do they still have cows and horses in Texas?
All kidding asside , we have had good luck with the smaller track owners that have one of their points race weekends already and want to add to the low number of cars with the addition of a large group of slant6 cars. I am sure there are several track owners East of the Mississippi that would welcome your group of slant6 cars. You can always ask for a group "rate" with tech fees, admission, ect. Putting up your own "purse" only adds to the interest they will have in your race..It is a win win for them..

Why don't you start a "blog" with the track names that might have a interest in 're-kindling' or starting a slant6 race for 2009 ?

We can always send Glen out again as our ambassodor of "good will" to help with the car count...

Are you going to recipricate in 2009 with a car from E of Miss. coming to one of our races?

Yeah Wayne, you'all would like here. We have paved streets, the electric light, flush toilets, and air conditioning. You know there's a North Texas Inliners club, if they have a get-together they might be the best bunch to throw in with. Lemme check. If they Kearny race happens, I'll want to be there. I've looked at Clay City for the fun factor, and I've got an old racing buddy in Knoxville that I could halfway with. I've just got to get moving a little faster on completing the car.. Vegas is a longshot, more for finishing the car than anything. Oh yeah, for those who think Vegas is just a short jaunt for us Texans, try this: It's a shorter drive to the Mopar Nats by 110 miles than hauling to Mopars at the Strip !!

Blog???? Wasn't that a movie with Steve McQueen??

I'm eight hours west of the Mighty Mississippi.

Boy..I didn't sleep all night worrying about the toilet situation in texas...thanks for the uddate on the "lav's"
We (the killer bee team) started out running with the Inliner group..They have over 3000 members Nationally and we proposed a joint meet at Redding back in 2003. The Inliners group was very prominent at the Woodburn races and we asked if any wanted to have a earlier meet at Redding. They all said yes and we had 16 cars the first time out...8 from the Inliner group and 8 from our newly formed slant6 group. It was really low key and we matched up a slant6 car versus a Inliner group car. I put up 1-4 place trophies and many of the Inlines group went several rounds...It just started sort of a "rivolry" and this was continued on until the number of Inliners dropped and the number of slant6 cars increased...It was a way to get a good car count from the "get go"and the track promoters were happy. The Inliners are a National group and have their own website. As you propose, get hold of the regional director from your area and I bet they would be more than happy to have a combinved race...This also could happen anywhere...anywhere in the US so lets not overlook other small tracks elsewhere. Lets keep thinking how to get some new races going East of the Mississippi and get the car count up and up...We can always send out a case of honey to "attrack" some new racers..It works out here...it really makes the cars stick to the track.

 I agree Wayne, in fact, I did some checking and the regional head for north Texas literally lives down the street (abeit, a paved one  ). I will attend their monthly meeting and report back. After not being able to get any traction for Slant racing at the local Mopar events, this looks to be an excellent alternetive. Some Slant owners, I know, are a bit intimidated by the muscle car crowd. I'm off to my thinking room.......

Hi Dago: You will find that the Inliner group are sometimes in the same situation as fledgeling slant6 racers. They can't get enough cars to the track to make a full race but with the addition of your group, I think you can make it happen. Tell the track management that you will do your own payouts so there is not $$$ outlay by the track. You can start it off with some inexpensive trophys for the first couple of places and go from there..pass the hat another alternative...The track will be happy with the additional admission and car count via tech fees, ect. Get the first one under your belt (do they still wear cowboy belts in Texas?) and you will know what to improve the next time around..Have fun and let's hear from other areas that are trying to set up slant6 races ..

 Wayne, the Inliners were a hoot!! They have shows, partys, cruizes, any excuse to hang out. They thought having the Slant crowd involved was a definate plus. They have a large race/party at Mo-Kan Dragway (just north of Joplin, MO) in August, in concert with the Jalopy group (H.A.M.B.). I'll keep my ear to the rail on this one. RICK

Hi Rick: Thanks for the updates..Yes, try to get as many slant6ers to your meet at Joplin and then get some good ole "rivalry" going...When you pair up, try to get the slant6 cars paired with the Inliners cars...The first time we tried this was at Redding and we had 6 Inliners and 6 slant6 cars. One of the Inliners won it all and they really "rubber it in"...well that was the last time they won and we kept growing in numbers and in the next year race, had enough to run our own race and they did also. Then we put the winners together and slant6 rules...They are a great bunch of guys. Get it going and lets hear back from you when and where???
Try to post it on the website and see who is coming for this first time slant6 race...Thanks and hopefully others will keep the ball rolling and get some new racers involved along with new areas of exposure...

Dago Red, the HAMB drags will be held again this year on August 22 at Mokan.
As far as the Inliners having a meet there, I have not heard of it.
The HAMB drags are for cars 1962 and older and there can be no electronics of any kind on the cars. If you are running a tach and have a shift light on it, take it off or put a piece of tape over it.
This event is put on by the guy that owns the HAMB and it is his party.
Please if you have a car that fits the bill, bring it on out. This is the best nostalgia race in the whole country!! If you do not have a car that fits the bill, come on out anyway and enjoy the best nostalgia race in the country.
I will be there unless something drastic happens, I have pulled from Florida for the last four years and do not plan on missing this race.

Thats what I get for writing faster than I think. I picked up the impression that the Inliner folks WERE the HAMB racers, they'd talked a lot about when it would be and who would be going. They would be completely separate from each other, correct?. I'll get it together asap, and then probably misplace it.......

A lot of the Inliners belong to the HAMB. I hope I'm not giving the impression that they were not there. It is that the HAMB drags is a place where a lot of different folks who have an interest in traditional hot rods meet to have a blast.
The neat thing about this race is that if you want to race someone, tell the track official and line up side of that person and have at it as many times as you can. There were several guys that made over 15-20 passes there last year.
Like I said before, if you love true nostalgia drag racing, this is the place to be.
One other thing, it is all heads up racing, no brackets.
Would like to see you there, Robert

We have five major sponsors for five of our races already committed. We just need two or three more to have the entire season funded. If anyone would like to sponsor one of our races, please let PJ, Sergio or Wayne know of your interest. We have several new races planned that will allow all those "bench racers" from "down South" that always say it is too far to travel to ****..Now no excuses with the addition of the Sacrmanto Mopar meet and the two day meet at Infinion raceway. We have been promised to be listed in their programs so please try to make one or both of these new races for 2009. The Bees are getting restless... I hear buzzing in the air...from the Killer Bee Hive, Wayne/Aric/David
