I am new to the sit and I did some searching but came up empty.

I have a 71 dodge dart with a /6 with a 904 transmission. I also have a 1992 dodge dakota with a 360 and a 518 transmission. I am going to transplant the 360 with the 518 (for the OD). I have looked into this and what I want to know is can I put the /6 in my dakota? Does anyone know if this would work? Thanks billy

With some fabrication work, you could get the SL6 installed into the 92 but here in California, it would never pass smog so you could never get tags for the vehicle.

Merril Bruner did a Dakota swap, I think Lou bought it from him. I think the only Dakota you can't use is a Gen I because they had a shorter engine bay. :?

I did buy Meril's '90 Dak with 225/904 just 2 weeks ago. I think you could make it work without relocating the firewall, but Meril did relocate it on this truck and it really gets the motor back and tidys things up. I was just out driving it around today and tuning it up.

I would bet the radiator would have to be moved forward and you'd have to run an elec fan if you want to leave the firewall stock.
