Well, I think I made a good purchase this morning. I was surfing craigslist and I found a guy selling four slotted mags in the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern for $50. There is one pair of Western Wheels, 15x8.5, and one pair of unknown non-matching wheels, 15x10.

The 15x10s have a 6 1/4-6 3/8 backspacing, the 15x8.5 have 4 7/8-4 3/4 backspacing.

I went and picked them up and they look to be in good shape for a daily driver, my dilemma is whether or not to put them under my 84 5th ave or hold onto them for my brother's 74 Duster.

So the question is, will the rims clear either or both cars? What tire sizes? :shrug:

I know Dusters can take some fairly wide tires in back, especially if the rear end is jacked up, but I really didn't want to do that. I also know that F bodies got 15x8 factory rims in the SuperCoupe package, so would a 15x10 fit under the back of a M body sedan?

I'm hoping I didn't just smoke $50. I guess if nothing else I can swap them out for the 15x7 factory chrome slotted rims on my brother's 83 Dodge van...

The 15X8.5's might work on the Duster, but the 15X10's will hit the springs.

Wait, what about a wheel spacer plate? Would that give enough clearance?

ARGH! I also realized I measured the backspacing wrong too.

The 15x8.5 wheels have 3 5/8 backspacing, one 15x10 has 3 1/4 backspacing, the other 15x10 has 3 3/4 back spacing. The difference in back spacing on the 15x10s bugs me, but is 1/2 an inch a big deal on a street driven car? Can I make up the difference with a wheel spacer?

That backspacing will probably put the tire on the 8.5 wheel right under the wheel well lip on the Duster, and probably on the M body too.

You might get away with a different offset on the rear, but not on the front. Spacer will probably make no difference.
