If I could get my hands on an original Hyper-Pak from a gentleman, whom I am told may have one, what kind of carburetor would go on it? What advantages would it have over a Super Six I am considering buying?

Any "square pattern" Holley 1850 series carb. and all the Carter type carbs will fit, 390 to 600 CFM would be your target CFM range.

The Hyper-Pak will out perform a Super Six 2 bbl, no question BUT that comes at a price. The Hyper-Pak is hard to find, more difficult to install and harder to get "tuned-in". This manifold has no carb heat or choke provisions so they do not run well cold.

On the other hand, a Super Six is easy to find, easy to install, (get all the factory linkage parts) and will run pretty good calibration wise without much fussing around or rejetting.

What should I expect to pay for a Hyper-Pak, if indeed this guy really has one? What is a good estimate for a carb? (I realize that is like asking how long is a string, with all the variables) Just need a ballpark, like $100 or $300. Any recommendations on the carb regarding ease of tuning, reliability, etc.?

The clifford repop is about $350+, an original ????
Look at the Summit website or get a catalog, Holley carbs run anywhere from $300 to $450 new... you can also look around at swap meets and keep an eye out on local boards like this one and moparts, etc...
I was lucky to scoop up a Holley 390 for to go on my hyperpak intake for only $70 (needs rebuilt...though)...

A nice, uncut or welded original Hyper-Pak will bring around $1200 on a good day. Just make sure that it is an original, as people tend to call any manifold that fits a Slant a Hyper-Pak. Also, make sure it's in good shape if you give big bucks. There has been an intake and exhaust set floating around for years that the guy wants $2400 for. I saw them in person this month and they were basically junk.

Found out yesterday that the Hyper-Pak source sold the unit not too long ago. Story of my life, always a day late and a dollar short. Well, it was nice to dream about it for a short while. On to the next treasure hunt.....
