A buddy of mine recently upgraded to a larger turbo on his '87 Grand National and I can get the stock unit off of him for next to nothing. I think that with a GN turbo, 4bbl carb and intake, heavily ported head, oversized valves, and a SLIGHTLY more agressive cam than stock that it should work out well with boost coming up by 2500rpm.....I know some of you guys have already put turbos on your motors and I was wondering if you had any doubts about this set-up. Thanx in advance.

The Buick is a 3.8L engine. If you go say, + 0.085 on your /6, you're in the neighborhood. I'd say go for it!

Just my $0.02

The stock Grand National turbo is almost perfect for use on a slant six. The engines are very close to the same size and RPM range. This combination sounds like you are on the right track; my copy of Desktop Dyno predicts about 300 hp if you added an intercooler, ran 10 psi of boost, and could get the air/fuel ratio in tune.

The slant 6 at this URL is a Buick GN turbo.

Okay guys, the Grand National kid backed out of the deal...I guess I'll shoot for a 2.3L turbo-coupe turbo/intercooler...out of a 5-speed. Once again...we'll see what happens.
