I know this has been covered numerous times over the years...
I'm trying to switch over to a 2 barrel and headers for a drag only car. My header and aluminum 2 barrel intake (Super Six?) are being sent to me in Atlanta from storage in Arizona. All I have is the header and intake. No carb, linkage, etc. From what I'm reading on the site, I should look for just about any Mopar pre '73 2 barrel carb. Is that too general? All of my old Slant 6 News reference books are in storage and I have 66 days to get this thing running for Bristol. Any advice on how to make this come together is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Rob

I used a BBD from a '73 318. This works great. Other options are the Holley 2280 and the Rochester 2G. All of these carbs will bolt onto the manifold. The Jeep guys love the Rochester as it produces slightly more power, you would want one from a 327. The Holley is better for gas mileage. If you use the Mr Gasket 2v adapter you can now start using the Holley 2300 series of carbs. The 350 seems to be the perfered one to use.

If you search out a stock type carb, most likely you'll ditch it latter for a 2300 type Holley and the Mr G adapter Kesteb mentions. I'd get a 350, unless you have a bigger cam and loose convertor a 500. Holley 2300/4150s are easier to tune on a drag car. Also don't waste time looking for stock kickdown or money for the Lokar cable. Go ahead and buy a manual valve body for the trans and a good shifter. With a lot of racers going to transbrakes, there are good used manual VBs out there. 904 and 727 uses the same one. One may be bought for the same price as a Lokar cable.
I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I have to do a brake job, install a manual valve body left over from an old race car, install a MP header and Offy intake with a 2300 type 500 (if it isn't too big) or 350 Holley.
On a new race car, always buy parts when you can that will be good or big enough for future improvements.
