I have recently discovered that my 1966 W100 truck has a replacement slant six engine, casting number, 2463230-9. According to the www.earlycuda.org site this is a 1965 slant six 170 cu in from a car model! My question is related to the carburetor and air cleaner. The carb has a numbers of 4287057, 5147 B, 40089, and 3323. On the Vintage Auto Parts site, www.vapinc.com, this is identified as a Carter BBS 4287. The air cleaner on the carb does not fit, so I'm looking for information as to what the original air cleaner should be? Also does anyone have pictures of the correct choke and accelerator linkage for this setup?
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a passenger car 170 so the carb is most likly set-up to take the rod type linkage.

The air cleaner should be a small round unit.
Does your Truck have cable throttle linkage?
What is the exact "air cleaner will not fit" problem, is the hold-down "bail" too tall or short?

Thanks for the link; the accelerator linkage does look like it, except I have a manual transmission.
The air cleaner looks to be from a later carb. It doesn't sit level on the carb, not sure what to call it but there is a box protrusion on the back of the carb that is level with the mounting surface. The air cleaner does not have an indentation for this part of the carb.

Thanks
