I'll put this in bullet points so to minimize text:
1 - Trans from previous owner has deep pan installed - no filter extender
2 - Trans has flange tail verses spline shaft, so I believe trans is older type
3 - I have received an extender, but it has only 1 hole for fluid flow
4 - I read with interest a recent article describing need to drill 2nd hole for fluid flow on 2nd pump (rear I believe)
5 - Considering my trans type, is drilling of this second hole reqd?
thanks much for the help!

If you have a "non manual shift valve body", and a rear pump still in the trans (in other words "stock"), you will need to drill the 2nd hole. The filter must also have two holes.

You do need a 2-hole extender and a correct 2-hole filter as described in the sticky thread at the top of this forum about changing the '60-'63 cars to an in-pan filter. Make sure to seal the extender's 2nd hole adequately to the underside of the valve body; take a look at the O-rings on AR Engineering's 2-hole extender (also available, for a few bucks less, from AR Engineering themselves). They say it's for 727s, but the pre-'66 727 and 904 use the same filter and therefore the same extender.

Charlie and Dan : Thanks much! I really appreciate the help and assistance in understanding. Drilled the other hole today, and plan the install tomorrow.

Just to say thanks once again to Charlie and Dan for the follow-ups on my question about the extender. Raced this weekend, car did great. Hannah won her first race, and all is well. You guys are great!

Congrats to her. Need to get her to some more slant six races this year, after the R.U. at Farmington, last year.

I hope we will make a few this year. Hannah's class has 16 races scheduled, but I'm hoping some of the off weekends will allow us to join you fine folks when you are nearby. Best to you, be safe, and take care!
