As long as that's Standard's first quality line the LX301 should be fine.

A banana would be even cheaper, why not buy one of those instead of the right module for the application?

(I'm kidding, of course, but it seems to me you're not really doing yourself a whole lot of good with this project you took on supposedly to learn how the older vehicles are put together and how to make them run properly, eh?)

Eh.. Just thinking. The Accel is about $40 more expensive than the LX301. I probably could just call the parts store and get the Accel way cheaper than online. (company discount 8) )

This one will probably suite my project eh?

Quick question non ignition module related. Will I have to mess with the carb when I take out the lean burn system and replace it with the electronic distributer with vacuum advance?

Much of Accel's stuff is now offshore (=Chinese) garbage. Tough to go wrong with a Standard module.

Looks like you're converting to HEI, then, are you?

yeah.. I have been looking for a new ECM because mines throwing vacuum transistor circuit fault and the only way going about fixing that is getting a new ECM. And apparently no junk yard even has the ECM for my truck and I cant find one online. Truck still runs OK, just could be runnning better.

Who makes Proform ignition modules?

I must be doing something differently than you, 'cause it took me all of six clicks on www.rockauto.com , five clicks to confirm you can buy one or have yours rebuilt at www.autoecms.com , and I'll just bet you it'd take me fewer than 8 clicks to find a whackload of used ones from wrecking yards at www.car-part.com .

Who makes any of the off-brand garbage on the market? It only matters if you are so interested in truck repair that you want to do every job multiple times. Buy the part from an actual maker, not a rebrander of Chinese trash, and do the job once.

Mister Perkins, I'm having a harder and harder time giving you the benefit of the doubt. I think you are putting us on. From your posts so far, we've learnt that you're a professional mechanic, a quick draw with an OBD scanner, but now here you come makin' out like you don't know how to source and buy parts, have no idea what quality differences exist between quality parts and no-name crapola, and cannot readily separate the former from the latter by brand name? This just doesn't add up.

The last 4 pin Standard Module I bought only lasted me 4 years then left me stranded on the freeway. Luckly I had my spare...a Wells that I got from Reed. I'm running a factory ECU from a '74 Scamp now...just wanted to test it to see if it was still good and havn't gotten around to taking it off.

Where did i ever say I was a professional mechanic? I'm not certified, I've learned everything I know on my own. I got a shot to work at a local shop because I had my own tools, and I've been there for 2 years now. Why do you sit here and harass me? I'm 21 years old and I do what I like to do. Work on vehicles. I'm sorry if I'm not the fantastic mechanic you've seem to have come to believe I was. No reason to talk trash though. Quick draw with an obd scanner? I think not. I said code 91 showed up which meant vacuum transistor and the only way that you can fix the vacuum transistor is to replace the ECM and written in black in white on the manual with the code listings. It doesnt hurt at all to run a scan tool on a vehicle, if anything it helps. I use the Genesis Evo II scan tool almost every day. You can watch data streams of O2 sensors upstream down stream, fuel trim, spark advance, injector misfire, engine rpm. The list goes on.. How can using a tool that gives information that I can formulate an idea of whats going on by watching fuel trims when revving an engine to 2000 rpms and then watching what happens when it drops down from .33% to .5% meaning that theres a massive air leak be a bad thing? Thats actually what just happened today and the customer was actually quite pleased that I found what was wrong with his car. I guess OBD tools are POINTLESS and we should just throw them away though. huh dan?

OK, lets all calm down.

We're still hoping to see the OBD equipment. Wish my Valiant had OBDII. Then I could watch all my parameters parade across the screen, instead of the road, the vacuum gauge, the tach, and the A/F gauge, ...those blinking red and blue lights in the mirror...

I can speak from experience when I say avoid Accel's crap. Only thing I have of theirs is a set of spark plug wires in my truck that are still in good shape. Had one of their HEI modules in my Duster and it took a crap after not even two months of use. That was also when I discovered the relay trick, and the module I replaced it with still runs beautifully.
