There's even a new-design Volvo 240 heater control valve that can be snuck into the '60-'62 Valiant heater box without much beyond basic cleverness.
I haven't seen my heater setup in years, but I now I've seen a pic of a 62 heater control valve on eBay and a little bit of memory crept back in. I can clearly see where the cable connects to the valve.

SSDan; Volvo has a modern part that grips a cable similar to the function of a 62 setup? I'm still probably going to go about finding a 62 part, but the Volvo connection is interesting haha

Here's the '60-'62 A-body valve:

Here's what the original '75-'91 Volvo 240 heater valve looks like:

The similarity is obvious; main difference is the mount plate placement. If you want to spend a lot of money, you can buy the original-type Volvo valve here and carefully use a torch to un-solder the Valiant heater valve's mount plate from the old valve and solder it onto the new valve (or if you don't have an old valve, look at pics and make your own mount plate out of sheet copper or brass; it's not a complicated item).

But! here's the '92-'93 valve presently supplied as a service repair part for all previous years of Volvo 240:

You can get this valve here for thirty-nine whole dollars. I have not tried to retrofit one of these to a '60-'62 A-body, but I cannot see how it could pose too much of a challenge once you figure out how to secure the valve to the valve access plate, and even that doesn't look too difficult, tho a bit of cleverness would be called for.

Tell me, what this thermal sensor is located and what these does to control the flow of coolant?

And what the reason for this?

Cheers, Wizard

Wizard, I'm having trouble parsing your question. Can you restate it, please? What thermal sensor do you have in mind?

THis is first time I see a thermal valve that I'm not sure about for the heater.

The sensor is in the air flow and valve close and opens the heater. What this for?

Cheers, Wizard

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a pain, but what you are saying and asking just does not make sense. What does "The sensor is in the air flow and valve close and opens the heater" mean? It's not a sentence. A drawing, a photo, or a couple of complete sentences will help here.

Are you asking "what is the purpose of the thermal sensor"?

It looks to me like the valve/sensor is a inexpensive way to get more consistent temp output from the heater. It is a mechanical "feedback" system.
Move the cable to get heat (set point), and the valve opens, to let hot water to flow thru the heater core. As the air temperature increases, the thermal sensor will adjust the amount of water that flows, to keep the output air temp constant.
