The lines are all newer, only thing is the line from the electronic fuel control thing is blocked off, not sure if that has anything to do. Has new gas,and it fires right up after it dies, but i dies a few seconds later.

what do you mean the electronic fuel control thing? Does your d150 have an electronic fuel pump or something?

First, pictures and a more detailed description would be very helpful.

Second, it sounds like your truck? van? has the notorious "lean-burn" computerized ignition and carburetion control computer. The lean-burn is a very poor design and is almost universally removed by wners of vehicles so equipped. I highly recommend you remove the system and replace your carburetor and ignition system with non-computer controlled versions.

In the meantime, the vacuum hose coming off the computer on your firewall is absolutely critical to the functioinng of the computer. It MUST be hooked up to a manifold vacuum source for the computer to work anywhere close to correctly. If the carb and timing is still controlled by the computer, you need to hook this hose back up ASAP.

However, while the hose is disconnected, try suckingon the end of it to see if the vacuum transducer on the computer is still good. If you can suck air then the transducer on the computer is blown and you need to replace it.

Long term, I strongly recommend you start gathering the parts to swap out the lean-burn system to a conventional carburetor and electronic ignition system.

Not to be rude, but you should learn the correct name for the various components of your vehicle, especially if you are going to be trying to work with the lean-burn system. You should try and get the factory service manual for your vehicle, but at the very very least try and get a Hayne's or Chilton's manual for your vehicle. Giving the correct names and accurate descriptions of parts and problems makes it much easier for us to give you helpful answers.

Its an '84 Dodge D-150. 225 Slant six 4spd. It starts and runs for 5mins, then dies, but fires back up, rus for a few seconds, then dies. I removed the cat, it was clogged and the previous owner took off the air pump. He screwed around and there were a bunch of vacuum lines laying around, i connected the ones i found, but i cant find where the line from the fuel control(pic) goes. I also have a '67 225 out of a belvedere sitting here, but needs a rebuild, can i use anything off of that that will help the problem out? Thanks.

You have inherited someone else's big mess. Unfortunately, these systems were so complex that you will be stuck getting the factory service manual and tracking down where each disconnected hose goes to and where each disconnected wire goes to. It would be much simpler and quicker to just ditch the computer controlled carb and ignition altogether and start from scratch with a standard carb and electronic ignition.

The starting and stalling is most likely due to a disconnected hose or wire that the computer needs to have hooked up to work right.

Ok, hooked up the line and it ran a little longer, I'm thinking im going to rebuild the carb on it now, see what that does, and if it doesnt do anything ill do the conversion on it.

Have you seen the Lean Burn Conversion article? Does anything on your truck match up with the pictures? Does your distributor have a vacuum advance can mounted on the side? I’m just wondering if maybe someone already converted it or half of it or something. Can you find a lean burn computer on the air cleaner or by the battery?

Also, I think that intake manifold is the one that is prone to leak where it is welded together. You may want to check for vacuum leaks.

Danny

Ok, there is not any computer anywhere, except for the electronic fuel control system.

The electronic fuel control system IS the computer.

If you have a distributor that has a vacuum advance can on it, then someone has already started the process of removing the lean-burn computer and hardware. Rather than waste your time and money rebuilding the lean-burn carb, I say just plunge forward and finish the process- get a Holley 1920 carb and a standard electronic ignition system
