i'm pulling an engine/trans from a 63 d100 sat and am wondering the minimaL number of tools required and what they are in order to accomplish this. I will be far from my tool box so a stripped down list of things would be nice. experienced engine/trans pullers please chime in, thanks Linc

Just off the top of my head, you will need open/box end wrenches from 3/8" to 5/8", 3/8" to 3/4" sockets, extension, and ratchet for the motor mounts, a couple screwdrivers, and a pair of medium sized Channellocks just in case.

Hook the chain short and you'll get away without having to pull the hood if you're using a cherry picker type engine hoist.

Buy yourself one of those 5 gallon bucket organizers. $10.00 bucks or so from Loews. Fill it. You will be fine.

All that, and also add a floor jack of some kind to hold up the trans... you don't want to let it hang in there. Plus it will make re-installation alot easier.

Also depending on the terrain...Plywood to scoot the cherrypicker around on and wheel Chocks. Also a bucket for bolts and bolt-ons.

thanks for the helpful info. This engine is going to be a 100 shot 2 barrel with the an erson cam, head shave and long tube headers. I cant wait to do my first build...I plan on doing this build early 2010. Any nitrous build "tips" would be appreciated..

Build it with FORGED parts and use ARP fasteners. Keep it in tune. Talk to Big D (zilla)
