hi sages- bet dan could do this with his eyes closed. installed a new 4x10 speaker in the top of the dashboard of my 80 volare. old one was completely shot to hell. no sound at all. coming out of the stock am mopar radio is a plug going to the speaker . i had to use to female blade connectors on the two blades on the speaker and crimp the original wires to the connectors. one blade on the speaker is narrow and the other is wider. figured the narrow was the ground and the wider was the positive . of the two wires coming out of the radio for the speaker, one is green and one is black. figuring the green was ground, i connected it to the narrow blade on the speaker and the black one to the wider blade. doesnt green mean ground and black means positive? radio and speaker now work fine and sound is good. is my above thinking correct? actually since the speaker blades activate an electromagnet in the center of the speaker, does it make any difference which blades the wires connect to? thanks bob f

Polarity only matters when you're setting up multiple speakers.............

(you don't want 1 speaker going in, while the other is going out)

Reversing the polarity will cause the speaker to pulse into the basket before it protrudes out. For your purposes, it's probably fine. For higher end stuff, polarity does make a significant difference. Typically, at least in my experience, black was ground, and the green would be positive.

Enjoy having a radio again!
