I wonder if you would pick up the ET and put some more power to the wheels by using a 904 trans instead of a 727?

 Hey Ryan, are you going to try and make our little party in Nebraska this summer? All those sharp A-body/slant six minds in one spot.

Sure I'd pick up some et but I don't have much money in the 727 and it would cost alot more to build the 904. I've also seen 904's grenade more than 727's. Congrates Greg on your Mopar Muscle article. Looks awesome! Also, I am planning on being down to Kearney this year. Maybe in 10.90 trim. 8) I think were bringing my Pops 69 Dart also for fun. Turboed 318ci. I tried to get the slant in it but no can do.

I can appreciate the fact that it would cost a bit of Ca$h to build a 904.. If only we all had a little money tree out back :)

Thanks for the kind words on the write-up..

Greg

 In fifteen years of drag racing, I've never broken a 904/998/999 T-Flite. I don't know who has been telling you it cost a lot more to build one over the other (probably the same person who insists it cost a buttload more to build Chrysler over a chebby). Deep pan, a good cooler and a CAREFUL rebuild and the "baby" 'Flite will run great. And free up some horsepower too.....RICK

I just feel alittle more comfortable running a 727. Worry free parts are what keeps me at the track. I'm not saying the 904 family is a bad deal, but to handle the same HP (say 500) for many passes, the 904 needs more work done. The Valiant will be over 3,000lbs this year w/ me and the roll bar. Running this weight and a high gear seems to me the 727's best. I launch at 3800-4000 rpm w/ 20 psi. I don't think I've heard any hard #'s on what hp the 904 frees up. The Chebbie guys don't tell me that story anymore. I'm on the cheap with my motor builds and don't have a problem answering their ?'s about how much money their getting beat by.

Am I the only odd ball running a 727 behind the slant?

No, but the others are almost exclusively found in trucks and vans.
