I posted here a few days ago bout a problem with my 81 D150 and those of u who replied i thank. But i still have a little issue. The problem is is that someone said that when u test it to check for the vacuum pod to pull the choke off you should push open the choke plate to c if it smooths out. Well i did that and it does smooth out and runs great but as soon as u let it go it goes right back to missing and stuff. i did mess around adjusting the linkage and fixed it a little better but it still is doing that until it fully warms up. Its driving me insane because i have never had this happen to me. Can anyone help me farther. I did adjust everything to specs on the carb also. :?:

Have you checked that the choke vacuum pulloff diaphragm is functioning properly? These can go bad and will create two problems: (1) a vacuum leak, and (2) a choke that won't work right.

On the side of the carb there will be a round metal device that has a vacuum hose that runs to a nipple on the body of the carb on one side and a mechanical linkage to the choke butterfly valve on the other. With the motor off, disconnect the vacuum hose from the fitting on the carb body. Push the plunger on the mechanicallinkage side of the metal device down with a finger, then, while holding the plunger down, put another finger over the end of the hose that was attached to the carb body. With a finger on the end of the hose, release the other finger from pushing the plunger down. The plunger shoul either not move at all or move a little bit. If the plunger returns to its fully extended position then the diaphragm is ruptured and you need a new choke pullof diaphragm.

Alternatively, you disconnect the hose form the carb body and apply an external vacuum source to the hose (mity-vac, or suck on the hose if it is clean). If the diaphragm holds a vacuum it is good; if it doesn't hold a vacuum it is bad.
