I received my July Mopar Collector's Guide today and it has an article about a slant six pulling tractor. Another awesome slant six from the midwest. I noticed the photo of the seat said they read the Slant Six Pullin News. I thought Seymour was first with slant six performance newsletters but I guess the pullin news was first since it's been in a barn for a long time. Does anyone have a copy of a Slant Six Pullin News? Seymour was the Pullin News inspiration for the Racing News?

I think somebody pulled this one right out of you know where. Nice spread in MCG though. This is just one of many slant six oddities that most enthusiasts never get to see. For every project that ever got into a magazine, or on this site, there are many more that have never seen the light of day.

There is stuff in barns, corners of garages, and basements all over this country. Would there be interest in a thread where participants describe some of the amazing slant 6 projects that they have seen? You have to have actually seen it, not just heard about it second hand. I am thinking of stuff like a cam with intake and exhaust lobes reversed so the intake port becomes the exhaust port, factory turbo or diesel prototypes, never used hyper pak parts, vintage racing parts, etc. etc.

As always, another uplifting post from Ruleman Parker. Ruleman is case you don't know Mopar Collectors Guide has been around for a long time, I didn't dream it or the article on the tractor. It is nice to see anything slant powered.

I found this on a google search, tractors in the early '50s? Russian tanks? Every model had a slant? Most powerful engine in Australia in 1960? Is any of this true?

• The Slant six engine has been around many years and is well known for its strength and reliability.
• Starting its life as a tractor motor in the early fifties, it was also used
in Russian army tanks, one being fitted in each corner to power the tracks.
• Chrysler has offered the slant six in every model off the production line in the US and here in Australia.
• When first introduced here in Australia in 1960 to be fitted to the S series Valiant, it was the most powerful engine on the market. The only close competitor was Mercedes Benz at 3 to 4 times the price tag.
• The Slanter held its own right up to the release of the Hemi 6. Even then the 245 was only marginally better.
• In the US the Slant is still a very popular power plant and only ceased production in the 1990’s.
• As the Slant six finds it origin in the States we have no problem obtaining good parts to re-build them to the same standard Chrysler built them themselves.

Mark ole buddy I know im new to Slant Racing this just my 11 year racing. But I have seen Slants in irrigation pumps, aircraft tugs, welders, combines, searchlights, boats, cement mixers, corn pickers, hey balers, And I did see one at Bristol in a Simca that went like 9.81 in the 1/4 mile. From now on since im a national champion and your not call me Mr. Ruleman. I have earned that. Thanks Ron Parker
