Im thinking about switching my duster front set of drums over to disk brake's, and I need to know what kind of car's. I could get spindels off to work on my Duster?

The biggest decision you have to make: do you want to keep your small bolt pattern wheels or do you want to upgrade everything to the more common big bolt pattern?

Ahhh, your choices become a bit limited then.

One option you have is the stock disc brake setup from that era, also known as the 4 piston Kelsey Hayes setup. Finding these parts is getting tough. You will need the spindles, lower balljoint, calipers, dustshields, hubs and rotors. Think the hoses are different too, can't remember that one. This will fit the stock 14"x5.5" rims.

What size drums are on there now? If its the 10" a setup like this may be less hassle. Just watch its requirements for wheels.

well what kind of vehicles with that wheel pattern still will crossbreed to a A body ther junkyard i got has alot of darts and volares I can also praobbly look on the two dusters they have for spindles if they where disk

The Kelsey Hayes 5x4" bolt pattern disc setup ended in 72, I want to say 68-72. In 73 A body discs went to 5x4.5", same as the volares and other f bodies used.

I believe the KH setup is the only factory option for discs in that bolt pattern.

If you find a 72 and earlier dart in the yard with discs, you can use those as I described earlier to keep the SBP. If you find a 73+ one with discs, you can use those as described in the articles however it will be BBP.

Well thanks for the bit of info, Does anyone else know of any more later model cars that had SPD wheels and disk brakes?

Any A-body car through 1972 if equipped from the factory with disk brakes will be SBP. That means Valiant, Duster, Demon and Dart. Any other Mopar will have the large bolt pattern on the rotors and hubs,

So does that mean that any later model a body slant six cars have big bolt pattern instead of small pattern

Any ABCEF disc brake cars after 72 are BBP.

A body disc brake cars before 73 are SBP

BCE disc brake cars before 73 are BBP


You might think about using F body brakes but you still need a 73 up UCA.....

I know of one car that might have what im looking for a 72 or under plymouth valiant its has a 318 though so im not sure about that pattern still being sbp
