I have a 64 barracuda I am installing the gas tank on. It did not come with one when purchased. I was wondering if there are any rubber bumpers or pads that go between the tank and the bottom of the car or between the strap and the tank or just it just sit metal to metal.

There's a felt pad that goes in there between the tank and the car. The straps are metal to metal.

Roofing felt may subsitute.

That’s the best idea for a low-budget body flipper that I’ve seen. I know a guy who would have liked to have known about it - he thought he could flip his 69 Camaro over on a mattress...

How many people does it take to flip it up?

I can flip it by myself, but it is easier with two people. If you wanted to flip it easier a bigger radius on the plywood would be helpful. It cost about thirty buck to make. I now have the bottom of the car primed and painted. Here are some more picture. I wish I could lay claim to the idea but I found it on the internet, but it works great and its cheap. Saved alot of wire brushing on my back. Not me in the pictures that is my dad.

I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to think of a cheap way to roll a body and I can’t believe I’ve never seen one of those. I guess I always think too much and in steel.

its bolted to the rear bumper suports with a piece of 2" x3" spacer to give body clearence and the front is bolted through some misc. holes that are in the radiator support with some large fender washers. The hole thing is held together with wood glue and sheet rock screws and each joint is strengthened with ply wood or 1" x 6". The two long support that are at about a 90 degree angle to each other have to be set at about 5 degrees less than 90 so it will not roll back down when you have it on it side. I made a little kick stand for it so it could be locked in the upright position with out worry of it rolling over in the night. (strong winds in oklahoma this time of year)

Thought the same thing when I took the window out kind of scary. I was thinking a wood bed out of oak or mahgany and doing it up like a surfer wagon/truck. But I think I will try to control myself and not do anything to radical.

I used some ice and water shield, aka bituthane, aka the 'big bi+ch', to cover the top of the gas tank. I hit the membrane with a torch for an instant to warm it up: yes, dangerous, but better than torching on the gas tank.
Seeing the chassis all accessible that way makes me think "subframe connectors", especially after welding upwards to attach mine. If you do go for the pickup bed idea, I have a name for it: "El Cudamino".

no plans on other site just had a picture. It was a vw rabbit site i think I do not remember, saw it about 2 months ago. You really do not need plans just a 2 foot radius on 3/4" plywwod and 2" x 6" -eight foot boards set at about a 85 degree angle.
