Get the "new" head and mount the super six like you sugested. Shaving the head and maybe putting OS valves in it will REALLY wake the old girl up.
I like to mount the manifolds on the head and then put the whole unit on the block( if I dont have the engine out). Remember to use brass nuts and antisieze on the threads of your "new" head. Then when you remove the old head you can work onit at your leasure.

Is there a kit with the bolts, nuts and washers on the market? I live in Sweden and I think I might need to order this.

Is there a particular head that I should keep extra look after, should I go with one from 1970?

Where can I order oversized valves?

As for which head...68 thru 74 are a good choice.
