hey, i put in new weatherstripping in the trunk and i believe that altered the way the trunk hit the trunk light switch as it felt extremely hot first time i opened the trunk today, and because it went dead since i parked it, it basically had no weatherstripping before i replaced it, so that makes sense to me, basically just left that light on all the time. but whats weird is that now it wont start, the key doesnt do anything to make it start, it was running and driving fine when i parked it, the wipers and turn signals work when the key is turned to acc but not any other time, i put in a new napa ignition switch 2 years ago or so, it will turn over when i jump the connections at the starter solenoid, and will even run and idle if i do that with the fuel pump and key on. it will even shut off with the key, but then wont restart with it. getting ready to pull the ignition switch and make sure theyre all good, but anyone have any other ideas? checked the fusible link and its good. vehicle is a 67 dart gt with hei

Your battery is dead, needs a good long trickle charge by a charger. Don't try to bring it back to life with the alternator, you may melt something as it is not designed for deep charging. If your battery has drained down too far and shorted out, you will need to replace the battery as no amount of charging will bring back a dead cell.

Adjust the trunk light switch by rising it higher so the lid contacts the switch sooner to fully brake the connection.

If need be, disconnect the switch until you can properly adjust it, and insulate the end of the wire so it won't go to ground.

so i threw in a new switch and nothing different, dome light is still good and bright, everything works when i turn the key except the engine starting, and as mentioned before it will start and run if i jump it at the solenoid, and will shut off with the key, just wont start, battery did not due completely before and has a charge now. i have 12 v at the battery terminal on the switch, forget if i mentioned that before. thanks!
