Can someone give me a brief diagnosis here on how to track down my fuel gauge ground. Reason is that my gas gauge is inaccurate and has been way before my recent wiring harness problems up front in the engine bay.

Within my trunk just atop where the gas tank is mounted, there's a blue wire with a rubber grommet around it that mounts into the body. Is this where the fuel gauge gets its ground?

Thanks in advance ...

that would be the wire that goes to the gauge i believe, that goes to the stud on the sending unit, then there is a little strap type thing, i dont see a pic off hand, but basically it bridges the gap between the metal line on the sending unit to the metal line that goes up front, if you are missing that, you should be able to run a wire somehow to make it work until you can track one down. hope that helps

also if its just not working at all that may be the problem, but i think if its just inaccurate would more likely (imo) be a sending unit problem. i think rock auto is the cheapest, i just got one from them a little bit ago. could be like a bent float arm or a pinhole in the float. good luck!

See this thread. Also see this one for crucial sources and part numbers for fuel gauge sender repair jobs.
