Timing is set, car runs great at idle. Plugs look great so I am getting the proper amount of fuel. However when I go down the track it has no power. We have checked for vacuum leaks and cannot fine any. Any ideas?

Is it running smooth and just down on power?

It it is running smooth at idle, it starts running rough in the higher RPM range. The motor is newly rebuilt for drag racing. It has the Erson .510 lift cam in the motor.

Can you give us a run-down of the entire engine package? Carb to exhaust.

I'm leaning toward ignition breakdown as running the carb out of fuel would more likely shut off the engine or show up just in the higher gears.

I'd check the coil, primary and secondary wires and also the rotor to cap phasing.

Or it could be over timed, such as more than 30 degrees will cause the motor to go flat. I just learned that lesson getting ready for the track. My motor didn't ping but fluttered and acted like it was dying out.

Your situation would be critical, especially with a motor build like yours, it would be more dramatic.

Running a MSD6AL, MSD Blaster coil. The distributor is not locked. The car does not like any RPM at all, so it is not launching very good.

So even sitting it doesnt like to rev? If thats the case I would look at your timing. What is it set at? Has this engine run good before?

With the car in park the engine revs fine, when I put the engine under load is when I have the issue.

The cam was degreed in per the cam card from Erson.

How many degrees of total timing are you running?
and what is the initial timing set at?
What springs are you running in the distributor? If they are the MOPAR racing springs you could be bouncing off the slots........

Hopefully there is no vacuum advance and you have the line plugged.

Total Timing, we have been between 24 degrees and 38 degrees trying to get the thing to run...

Initial timing was set at 12 degrees.

I am not sure about the distributor. It has the same distributor that was in the car when Charles had the car.

Their is no vacuum advance and the line has been plugged...
