Hi all,

I am installing an electric fan on the 1965 barracuda. I have the pieces to do an EDIS/Megasquirt ignition, and will be doing that next weekend ( got the toothed wheel and VIR sensor on 2 weeks ago).

What is best/easiest/favorite place to get power that is switched on by the ignition? I was looking at the wire to the coil, but there might be better/easier places to access ignition switch controlled power.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,

Yes, I tapped into the relay behind the battery for the fan power. You can look at the pics on the red link below my name. Just double click on the picture to get full screen slide show mode. I could send you a wiring diagram if you need it. Let me know.

At the coil means after the ballast - depending on the relay that may not be enough voltage to keep it engaged.

Also it must be a feed thats hot during start and run. If it goes off for the split second it takes the key to go from start back to run, the MS will reset as if it were first turned on and you could have startup issues. Maybe use a small cap?

To avoid this hassle I ran a feed directly from the battery to a toggle switch. Nice side affect is you can crank the car indefinitely (well until your battery dies...) without starting it.

i ran a line from my battery to a 4 fuse holder, two are switched, one for cd, one for fuel pump, another is cd player memory and the other is open for future things, possibly an alarm. i like that, but if you want to do it up nice, dadtruck has been working on his with relays and whatnot, i havent seen it since he started, but hes got some info on it here:
