A body 8 3/4ers came with the weird looking huge flared brake drums.

What was up with that???? I think turning them in a brake lathe to remove all the excess material is a good idea.

Not all of the Drums Came that Way maybe just the 70-72 Models. Try to get some 69- Down Drums at a swap etc. I am not sure what the advantage was to having all that flared stuff anyway was.

supposed to be a 71 so that would explain that.

Had drums like that on my old 74 Dodge Dart 7 1/4 rear with 10 inch brakes. They are for heat rejection. I did remove the flares, so I could install my 13 inch wheels and slicks.
