How about a 78 Dodge Aspen Wagon? Thanks for the cam company recomendation and the person to talk to. I understand that most stock racers wont talk to much about their combos. I raced nhra comp elimnator in the late 80s so I know how much effort is devoted to devoloping a combo. I did find most people would give you a good baseline. Or tell you if you were totally out of the ballpark. This website is a incredible source of knowledge. Thanks again.

'78 was available with a Super Six so it would be acceptable. :D

True, But just barely with an all out effort. Jim mantle has run way under the record without using any of go fast tricks with his AMC. He runs a tenth under the record during regular bracket races. Mike and I can pick up 4 tenths from bracket mode if we try, How fast do you think jim can run if he wants to? Not to mention that we have been hit with a 44lb increase in minimum weight since mike made that fast run. That 44 lbs will slow us down close to a tenth.

I put absolutely no faith in the legality of a stocker at a bracket race. Most of the time the cars are light for sure to ease up on parts breakage.

How fast is he running at nationals and divisionals? If he is that fast and legal at a bracket race he would take the record for sure at a divisional. :?:

You also have to remember that Mike has never run at or below sea level yet. Lowest he's been is Topeka and base is 1000' there.

Are all of mikes fast runs at altitude corrected tracks? If so you know how the correction factor favors fast runs. That's why so many people go to boise if they want to set a record. Jim tried to set the record earlier this year but couldn't back it up due to a broken axle.

I don't believe Topeka was a corrected run. Denver is for sure.
