I have a holley 390cfm carb I know 8007 is the model number. I also have 1367 stamped under the 8007. and 6R4208B these numbers are on the center housing and I have 7204 stamped on the secondary block. What do these numbers mean? How old is this carb. The reason I ask is I am looking for a renew kit and I dont see any from summit that say they are for a R4208.

I admit I dont know much about 4bbls and this will be my first to rebuild and tune. I have spent over 3hrs reading info on this forum under the search function. I plan on getting a vac. sec. quick change kit, and the 4150 conversion for the secondary side metering block from the info I read on this site. What other Items should I order before I tear into this carb. What spring, cam, and jet kits do you suggest for tuning? I would like to have anything I would need ahead of time. I am going to order a couple carb books aswell to learn more.

Mike_64_Valiant That 1367 is a date code where the first three digits are the number of days from Jan. 1, and the 7 is the year of manufacture. 8007 is the model number that one uses to look for parts. The other numbers I'm not sure of their mission.

Take a look at the Holley web site for parts, details , kits, & tuning tips. The site is easy to understand with the use of videos, Q & A's, and a carburetor sizing calculator.

Depending on vacuum readings from your build and use of this engine you will most likely have to alter the power valve per Holley's instruction, accelerator pump shot, secondary vacuum diaphragm spring selection, and install a power valve check ball kit. Rebuild kits, as well as individual parts are readily available from Summit, Jegs, etc., and your local Holley parts distributor

Last December I rebuilt my 8007 using Holley parts that sits on an engine build close to the one you have planed. My car is used to putt putt around town, and to travel several hundred miles round trip to car shows on weekends.
