hello everyone,
Driving my truck to walmart the other day, in the store for 2-3 hrs, its hot outside, like 97* outside. Come outside to leave and it doesn't want to start. First reaction, pour some gas down the carb that I carry with me, so I try it. No luck, still wont start. Break out the MAC- DMM, battery 12.68, hot side of ballast, 12.06 voltage at the coil 8+ with key on. (did not have way to check start voltage at coil) Mcguyver the #2 plug wire so there is a 16th gap more or less. Luckily, I find someone to crank starter (a passerby) while I watch the spark. Amazingly, the engine starts for the passerby, (some luck) but I do notice that the spark is very weak looking. Happy it starts so I slam the hood shut and go on my way (forget the aircleaner). So what do you guys think, bad ground or weak ign, box.
I just got this truck about 3 weeks so I guess I am lucky that it is running at all considering the life it had . Have rebuilt the carb [1945] and done the fuel injection hose mod, to the fuel line. Also replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Choke is disco'd. and charcoal can disco'd due to it being faulty, plugged vac. line.

It doesn't have lean burn now, not that I can tell if it ever did. No computer on the air cleaner. Dizzy has a vacuum can. I t does have a couple of little square electronic gizmos mounted on the inner fender that are not connected to anything [about 3 in. square] cant figure out what they are for.
