I just picked up a new mini starter from Herbs (on sale). Just received it today (it was just like christmas for me)but after reading up about mini starters on this site, I think I might of *&^%up . First there are only 2 terminals on it. I have three terminals on my original solenoid (battery, ignition, and another one?)What do I have to do to convert it to work? Secondly a few articles started talking about tooth count on the flywheel, shouldnt this fit if Herbs said it fit any 225,273,318,340,360 and up?
Can anyone help me?
66 Valiant 225, A904, original starter.

I dunno about the terminal setup, because my mini starter came from a mid 90's ram. Probably the same starter from 89-02 or so. Mine fit right on my '73 duster with no mods at all. They will fit anything from a 170 /6 to a 426 hemi.

I think that Canadian cars got a different starter than the U.S. built cars.Try to get a hold of SlantSixDan and he can set you straight.
I have the mini on my 60 Val and on my Daughters 72 Val and they work great.

That looks exactly like the one I bought from Napa. It bolted right on like it was made for it. It was for a `93 Dakots 3.9 and I had no problems returning my old "giant" one as a core either.

Unless you have the old dircet drive starter, I don't see why it would not work for you.

I think the Canadian cars got the direct drive starter up through 1966.

You might very well have an old prestolite ( or others) direct drive starter, with the older, more toothed flywheel.

Your real problem, if this is the case, is that the starter will not mesh with the flywheel/ring gear.

Count the teeth of your new starter and your old one, and see if they match.

Don't ask me how I know about this problem....
