You can use those parts, and you'll need to order a bushing set too... All the Cloyes parts were available individually from all your local stores (even Autozone).

The kit is generic so you can order a crane kit for a Chevy, or a Mopar Performance kit...Just shooting from the peanut gallery, Mr.Gasket #85 for chevy and mopar, or Mopar Performance P3960936?

The bottom gear and chain for the B/RB Mopar engines is the same but not the top gear. The top gear of the set is SL6 only, it has a cup on the back, the B/RB is flat. The timing marks are also in a different place but I never look at those anyway so NBD there.

I just bought (on 8-6-09) a double row true roller unit from hughes #HUG-6406 for $49.50 shipped.

I can't seem to find it on their website anymore though and all I find is the cheaper "silent" timing set #HUG-6406S which is only $29.95, but I doubt it's a roller.

I called Hughs when this thread started, as I had purchased one, also. They are out of stock, and their vendor (Avon Gear) has discontinued them.

They are available from Summit (or anyone that sells Cloyes). The problem is the price (over $100). I had previously purchased some cam sprockets on E-bay for $9.95, so I just ordered some crank sprockets ($29.95), and chains ($17.95), to make some complete sets. The cam sprocket is $53.95. Summit confirmed with Cloyes, that the parts are in stock, and supposed to ship to me about 09-04-2009.

If you want them from Summit, you might want to order now, so they can be included with the parts I ordered. Summit does not stock these parts, they have to be ordered from Cloyes.

hi sages- following this thread on timing parts. back in 87 my 77 sl6, broke atooth off the original cam gear, the chain jumped and timing went to hell. never did see an sl6 chain bust. bought a set of gears and the chain then for about 20.00. dont think it was double roller chain. surprised that todays replacements are not as easily available given the common presence of the sl6. 50 is a bit stiff. seems clip joints wont ever hesitate to enter a market. the replacement gears were all steel, not fibre like the originals. there was no tensioner on it like cars today. should have been impressed that the engine didnt blow to hell when the timing went like the interference travesties today. worked fine until jersey rust claimed the car at 360k in 05. i recall that the harmonic balancer even though it was pushed all theway back on the crankshaft, almost flush with the cover and then bolted, continued to leak a little oil . was there a crankshaft to balancer seal or gasket, hopefully with a thrust washer that was supposed to go there? want to know that for the the next sl6 chain job.always wondered if there was a contact gear set for the sl6 which eliminated the chain as with some other engines. regards bf

Wow, I must have got their last one. I'm glad I ordered it when I did as I can't afford to spend more than double what I paid.

Back in 1987 we were parting out 'Cudas, passing up six pack cars and buying running clean B/E-body 4-speed Mopars for $2,500.00-4,000.00
