well any 500 degree engine paint will do and i have tryed them all, i like rustoleum's engine enamel (4.99 a can) the most important thing i guess is making sure the parts are clean, like uber clean ( either sand blast or use 180 grit sand paper on the clean metal ) primer then paint.

mine i ran thru the parts washer, blasted or sanded, primered then painted.

anyways i'm off to work to pull 2 engines and all the other crap i gotta get done before i can work on my car.
what paint would you recommend for painting headers i bought some old hookers true duals and they need some sanding and painting.

VHT header paint or wood stove paint does the trick but all of it burns off with in a year.

well u can do a lot in a day but not everything .. this is what happened today.

thor finished up my rear brakes and ... thor ,ed and i tossed the idea around of some tail light mods wich bobby is gonna tell us all about!

it took us an hour of comparing rears and digging for parts to complete them ... it's like ok we have the parts but where the hell are they!

Image

i worked on the front disc bearings and oil seals ... all new, cause i don't truct junkyard bearings!

Image

the nitrous line is cleaned up and out of our way!

Image

thor and i are both running eldelbrock stainless steel flex fans ... with good results so far on his .. here is mine

Image

i'm running a oem fuel filter for a EFI dodge V8 truck ... it does the job and then some .. and its metal! plastic fuel filters are junk!

Image

i'm uploading a u tube video of mike doing his thing! but here is the second coat of primer and sanding

Image

Image

the 10" drums assmebled with new hardware, cylinders & nice shoes

Image

SWAY BAR! too bad we couldn't find one for thor but next time he is up i'll have one pulled for him.

Image

another 20 mins shot digging thru here for flywheel bolts ... half the day we where just working on finding stuff or looking @ completed cars to figure out how the hell this stuff went together!

Image

flywheel

Image

ok huge pain in the ass here ..

2 diff spedo pinions and the 64 904 is way diff than the later 230 ...
iafter talking to ed we figured out what was up and i pulled 2 spedo cables and finally found a 1967 dart that worked and the cable was in good shape ... after picking the spedo gear and mounting the cable came the a230 frist drinks of sincromesch!

Image

Image

afco cluch .. man they know there stuff!

Image

absinthe powar!

Image

the back shop

ok i switched out the pedals:

before:

Image

after:

Image

i had to remove the instrument cluster and drop the steering wheel. my set of pedals that i cleaned up and painted did not work so i grabbed a set of 65 dart pedals and they droped right in. next i mounted the power boosted and bracket ... only problem is now the brake lines to the master cylinder are now too short.

Image

Image

on top of that the nitrous mini switch is now in the way also ... i'll figure out a better way to mount it tomorrow.

Image

i moved my after market gauges and re-wired them in a better way.
i also added my vaccume gauge.

Image

and a closer up shot

Image

here is the engine bay with the power booster sitting on a proper bracket with a stock linkage ... i rigged the old setup and it was starting to become non-fuctional!

well both rear quarters and wheel wells are being removed this spring and new quarters put in. this is just a temp fix to keep her look'n good.

it's off to buy 2 brake lines and then to work to try to get them in before we open @ 9am

well today was a long and bad day for me so not much got done, we where slammed with customers and projects .. like getting ready for this saturdays party. i didn't even get to pick up a wrench for my car untill 6:30 tonight. well i did get some things done and here is that

here is my lineup tool from a busted 230 3 speed.

Image

flywheel, clutch, backing plate & bellhousing are in the car

Image

Image

i bought a set of mickey tompson racing slicks from randy for a great price since he needed the money. they fit my car and i'm hoping @ the next race i will be running them!

Image

Image

now the bellhousing brackets are different between the automatic and the manual transmission setups so i had to pull a bracket and clean it up

Image

as of right now this post is @ 1700 views ... thanks guys!

and thanks to goldyn for helping me out with some of the new parts.

Hey Neil,

Making great progress!

Your blog here really belongs in Slixers Gallery. Unless you have a reason for it to be in the social corner, I'm going to move it over there.

Are you going to try to have your car done for Redding? I may have the car put back together by then. Lot's happening! :D

Have fun this weekend! I'm still plugging my tranny together!

CJ
