I have a 1963 dodge dart and really want to switch from the 5x4" pattern to a 5x4.5" pattern. I checked around and couldn't find any threads that list what parts I need. Thank you for helping me out.

This is for all four wheels and it is the 225 if that matters.

Please keep in mind that all A-body all-drum brake cars used the SBP. The donor car needs to be a 73 or later disk brake car. These are the ones with BBP hubs. Some substitutions are possible and are noted.

You'll need a rear axle assembly. The rear end in your car is probably a 7¼. If this is the case, pull the axle shafts, brake drums, and backing plates from a 7¼ . A potential substitute is the 9 inch Ford rear from a 64-66 Mustang or the leaf sprung Grenada or Monarch. Length is okay and the spring perches are the same distance apart as the A-body.

For the front, you'll need the upper control arm, disk brake spindle, caliper, rotor, and associated small parts. The UCA has a larger ball joint that is needed to connect to the disk brake spindle. In a pinch the spindle and brakes from a 68-70 B-body or the F/M/J body will fit. It alters suspension geometry a little. You'll need hoses for the 73 and later DB A-body, too.

To control all of this, you'll need the master cylinder and proportioning valve from a disk brake car. You could go with assisted or non-assisted brakes. It doesn't matter as far as the brakes are concerned. If you decide to change to assist, get everything from the brake pedal forward.

It's not a difficult swap. I like the improved brake performance and expanded choice of wheels. Besides aftermarket, the Magnum 500 or Mopar cop car wheel can be fitted.

You will need to swap the complete rear assy. It is not possible to swap axle shafts, drums and backing plates, from a big bolt pattern 7 1/4 rear to a small bolt pattern 7 1/4 rear

I agree with charlie,that WRONG info is from the mopar performance book.I got burned that way myself 10 years ago.You have to watch out when you read the MP books,90% is correct,10% is wrong.
