I was reading the SL6 EFI Manifold & Fuel Rail Construction in the articles, and this really peaked my interest. I was considering TBI, but... I want to know every thing on how to do EFI and what I need to do this. It also needs to be as inexpensive as possible. I have a spare 1bbl manifold laying around as well as some other stuff to get started. Thanks! :D

Also, will this give any better performance/ fuel economy than a super six?

Spend some time making use of this board's search function, please.

Check out www.megamanual.com - its the manual for a popular DIY aftermarket efi controller known as Megasquirt, but it has lots of general info in it. Forum is at www.msefi.com as well.

EFI is something best not done cheap. It'll come back to bite you later down the road. Read the megamanual, look at all you have to put in, and plan carefully. It's more then just injectors + pump + computer turn key = go vroom.

That article shows you how to do the bungs, you still need to add the rail.

EFI is a broad topic that cover both forms of fuel injection whether it's the early for THrottle body injection (much like a carb, where the fuel is injected at the throttle body), or MPEFI in which the fuel is injected closer to the valves and the throttle body just meters air... which can be sliced further into how the injectors fire (Batch fire all at once, sequential they fire one at a time in a programmed fashion)... and then there's even TPI
but that's not an option for us, yet...

New here, but not a stranger to forums of this type. I've seen this similar type of thing happen on many forums, someone asks a question, and a bunch of grumpy people replay with "use the search function" or "do some research" or other etc etc etc..

Most bulletin forum engines have a search funtion, but they also have a thing to "sticky" often asked, or often referenced topics, and some moderators are kind enough to try to pull alot of relevent data and posts into a sticky like this to sort of compile a real comprehensive set of posts.

I noted that other sections have stickies on this forum, and this is a question that I have seen asked often enough that when I enter a search, I find multiple hits on other asking the same question, maybe it would be productive to put together a sticky of maybe a compilation of several posts on this subject?

Thank you, lots of good info here, a shame to have it hidden by the fact that some have a harder time navigating a search function, when it may not return what you are looking for.

Christian

Welcome on the board, Christian. I hope you will make many good contributions to the community here.

This is not a typical forum; whatever forums you've been on before, this is not them. Digging up a year-old post and complaining, making sarcastic remarks about the existence of the sticky function (we know it — take a more careful look around on this forum), implying the moderators are lazy here, and judging and lecturing people you don't know in your very first post is kind of an awkward start. Would you like to please try again with a different approach?

My write up was a far from Sticky worthy, but it was posted fairly recently from when he asked the EXACT same question. I think it was simply better for him to read the thread and he can ask away, I'm more than happy to help!

Sorry, didn't mean for it to come off as complaining or lecturing, I simply noticed that some of the sections on this board had stickies, and this section (Fuel injection) doesn't seem to have any stickies.. I also did a search on DIY EFI, and a few other searches, and kept coming up with others asking the same question in my results. To me this indicated a few people wanting to know similar info.

Again, I was lurking for a while just reading, and would not have piped up had I not noticed a trend. I truly apologize if it came off as a lecture or a complaint. I have been so far attempting to soak up as much info as possible on this subject, and have found this resource to be evaluable, you guys really know your stuff! I read the article on junkyard EFI, and quite a few posts on this, and there's some goldmines of data here, along with some very helpful, friendly advice, and I think this resource is incredibly great. Most of all I thank you moderators, and contributors for providing this resource.

Probably not the best foot to start off on, and again, I am sorry.

I will go back to lurking for abit, I may have some questions in the future, but they certainly won't have anything to do with the format, or administration of this forum.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Christian,

Welcome to the Forum! Not to worry, I'm sure we'll get along fine!

There are a lot of different ways to go about fuel injection, with some folks going for the gold, and others looking for what they can bolt on floating around the scrap yard.

Another method for searching this forum, or any other for that matter, is to use your favorite search engine. Mine happens to be Google.

Type in slantsix.org and what you want to see.

Like, " slantsix.org sequential fuel injection" You'll get hits that way. Some will take you to exotic places unfit for children and others will take you to ebay. Filter through all that crud and find what you want.

Keep in mind, some of our members are alphabetically challenged, so search engines may need some coaxing. When my wife isn't around, my spelling comes off a bit odd!
