I have a '84 D-100 225. I was wondering if a cam swap was possible without going to solid lifters? I just want a little more power. Not too worried about fuel mileage. I have already done the HEI conv, Ram air, 2 1/2" exh,. When I do the emissions on it, it is always reading rich and I can barely get it to pass. Do I need more air?

Search the boards here and you will find that hydraulic cam choices are limited.I just rebuilt my carb on a 1982 d150.It had a huge main jet.If you are always rich, your throttle response will be dull. There are cam grinders listed on this board that will do a custom grind. The cylinder head is where most people here seem to find the most improvement. Good luck and keep us posted on you results with a "hydra" slant.

I run my rail with hydraulics. Current is .545" lift with 241/247 duration at 050. Before this cam i ran it with a street hyd grind which worked very well. Below 7000 RPM hydraulic cams offer some great advantages.
Custom cams . I often get my cams made to spec using the cam grinders lobe library. Not a big deal.

I saw a cam and lifters. Mild MP cam this weekend. Jerry from J+J had it. He also had a MP electronic ignition too. Both NOS
