Welcome on the board. Please don't type in lime green; it's impossible to read. Use regular black text.

Your Duster doesn't sound like it has a V8 because it hasn't got one. It isn't supposed to sound like it has one. Loud cars are fun for about a day and a half, then they get old.

I'm sure you'll get responses here on how to do what you want - I just want to urge you to consider the bigger picture. The novelty of such noise wears off quickly when you have to put up with it day in and out, especially if it's a daily driver. Also, your neighbors will thank you for the peace.

Loud (both in color and sound) without much go is kind of dorky - like any car with a fart cannon coffee-can muffler or slapping a Type R sticker on a base Civic. Stickers don't make anything faster.

But to each his/her own. A car is one way to express yourself and everyone has unique ideas, that's what makes the car culture cool. I like my 2 1/4" exhaust with a 24" glasspack out of the factory exhaust manifold. I do have a 2-BBL exhaust, head work, and a different cam, so your results may vary.

Or you could just get a 340 if that's the sound you want. Or they do make speaker systems if it's just the sound you're after.

But if you've got the radio cranked, why do you want a loud muffler? You won't hear it anyway :)

i think we get this question every once and a while. like if you get a erson 280 cam with high compression and straight pipes it would sound bad wouldn't be a v8 but it would sound mean. or really short glass packs cherry bomb makes and 8 inch by 2 1/4 diameter. but i tell ya what i'm a 16 year old building an bare minimum 275 horse power slant six ant for my exhaust i'm running headers to an x pipe then cut outs and turbo mufflers so when i'm in town i can be mellow and quiet and then when the cops ain't around run the cutouts

heres some videos with my duster in them see if you like it

this is with a poorly tuned carb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE8mMNN4 ... re=channel
this is what they sound like with straight pipes

What? - I was referring to some dorky things, not implying anything about what you want to do to your car (I'm still trying to decipher what you posted here)

The easiest and cheapest thing to do is upgrade to an off the shelf cam upgrade sized for an otherwise stock motor. Upgrade to a super six intake setup. Run some clifford shorties into a single 2.25. End it with a flowmaster super 40 for the perfect over-the-top rumble. For those extra special poser moments use a quicktime cutout in front of the flowmaster. Won't sound like a 340 though.

hey dusterfanatic, I'm 17 also and have a volare, I wanted loud so I got a glasspack, I didn't care much for that so I got a thrush welded (without a tailpipe), now that muffler made it sound mean, most kids couldn't tell I had a slant six under the hood, it almost sounded more like a 318 actually. After about 3 months of obnoxious (yet nice sounding) exhaust that would vibrate everything inside the car at about 1000 rpms, and really turn cops heads at a stoplight, I got a custom 2 1/4 tailpipe bent for it and now enjoy a fairly quiet interior and plenty of "growl" to make me happy. Just my 2 cents.
