Well it finally happened.I got a chance to take my Slant Six Volare and race it.Granted it was only 330 feet but none the less I got to race it.They had it setup complete with a .500 tree.I had the only Slant six car there.Got to make 2 runs lost the first on (sleeping at the light) and won the second one against a big block Buick.I have never drag raced before so it was a lot of fun.Met some great people also, made new friends.I drove the car to and from which is about a 360 mile trip.I couldn't get the slicks in the back seat so I drove it on them, not doing that again!Hit rain twice and on the twisty portions of the drive it was quite scary other then that it went off without a hitch. The car ran great at 75-80 mph all the way there and back.I had just bolted on a new BG Demon 575 cfm at 11:30 the night before and didn't even fire the car up untill 3:30 am when I was leaving.Had a flooding problem about 3 miles from my house but I took it off and fixed that on the side of the road.I was running a Holley 390 before and only got about 12 miles to the gallon, with the B/G I averaged 16-17!They are expensive but I'll save it in fuel and the car ran much better.I didn't spray the motor due to lack of time tuning and no fire suit.I also learned that Holley jets are diffrent so I ran it as it came out of the box.The sixty foot time were way off due to lack of experence and not tuned properly but it gave me hope. Finally after 3 years I got to run this thing a little. There was a guy waiting in the staging lanes with a 440 tubbed '65 Baracuda and he asked if I really have a slant six and I said Yep!.He told me I brought a knife to a gunfight. At the end of the pass I went by him in the pits and he asked me how I did and I told him I won that round,he gave me a pat on the back and a big smile and handshake, that made it all worth while at that momentI'm going to spend some more time tuning it at take it down to Speedworld in the near future

Great looking car and it looks like you had a really good time.

On a different note, would you please resize your photos so that they fit on the page; 500 or so pixels wide is a good size. Thanks.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
