H'm. Why do you want to do this?

I dont Think you would actually need to do this as the Main and rod bearings on a pre 1976 Forged crank engine are pretty close to the 440 size as it is.

the only real advantage the 440 has is the oil pan rail encases the Mains and on the slant it is just about 1/2" below the crank centerline.

I thought i read it but maybe not.
I thought of it as a stronger bottom end?
Thanks for clarifying that.

It is true that 440 mains (Caps and Bearings) are simular to the SL6
(not just the 440, but all B/RB Mopar Big Blocks)

Here is another interesting piece of info. I have never seen a broken SL6 main cap.
I have seen spun-out main bearings, broken cranks, broken block "webbing" around the main bearings, but no broken main caps.

Another fact: Refitting different main caps to any engine is a difficult process that takes special equipment and a knowledgable machinest.
It is not a case of: buy some "super-duty" aftermarket main caps, bolt them onto the block and go.
Even aftermarket main cap sets, made for other engines, require main line bore re-machining upon installation.

So in a nut shell, if there is no problem with the current design / parts, use what you have.
