Gentlemen,
I have a 1984 D150 that you am trying to fix up. It now has the infamous Lean Burn system in it. I had previously posted you gents about installing the Electronic Ignition in my 1982 truck ( Which unfortunately meant with an untimely demise when I hit a big old buck. Killed him instantly but the truck also sustained a lot of front end damage) So I found this 1984 right away. I just finished replacing clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing ( did the oil pan gasket also while I was under there)
Now I want to use the EI system I took out of the 82 ( I took the whole sl6 and the a822 out as well. No way would that go to the junkyard) and my question to you more experienced sl6ers is what sensors along with the crappy Lean Burn system can I take off of the 1984 and toss? And when doing so what vacuum line changes do I have to make? Thanks so much for all your help. I think it's time for me to make my donation after all your guidance. Keep on slanting!!!!

Chuck
I have 82 and 87 D150's that I converted to normal non lean burn super sixes.
I just used an EI distributor and HEI/EI module (did 1 of each). ALL the hoses have a purpose so we need to go thru each one. I used the Factory Service Manual to go thru and get rid of the computer controlled devices. One thing to note is there are different versions of the Lean Burn system.
Do you have the Air cleaner mount or behind the battery mounted computer?
The OASC and EGR systems can be removed and the EGR hole in the manifold gets blocked off. I saved the cansiter system on mine as it works and does no harm (actually helps the emissions).
So lets here back from you on this. If you want speedier results you can PM me your phone number and I can talk you through it.
Frank

Thank you Frank for your reply. I definitely will be ripping those two out of the truck. Another fun fact I just realized is that I have the Calif emissions setup and I'm in Jersey. I'll be tearing out more stuff due to that. Hopefully I can get to doing that soon. I have a state inspection coming up.
